Somewhere between the stark light of purity and the bleak abyss of despair lies wisdom: a lackluster capote to the vibrant substrate of life. Reach, and you will find me. I am everywhere, and I am nowhere. I am all the things you aspire to be and all the things you fear.
When we meet, you won’t recognize me. You might even begrudge my residence in your mind. I’ll persist, nonetheless, for once we meet, you are mine.
I am everywhere. I live in the sweet scent of lavender, your scrumptious table fare, the silk of a baby’s skin, the mockingbird’s mating call, every calming sunset. It is my subtlety that envelops your memories, silently unraveling your losses. Unnoticed. My many shades cannot be banished, but I am easily overlooked and often ignored.
Don’t shun me, for I bring you both the culmination and the defragmentation of your experiences. I will confound the lines of extremes and enrich the cast of harmony.
You can love me but not caress me. You can hate me but not kill me.
I am that concrete foundation you have sought. I’ve been here all along, guiding your journey from just beneath the surface, your buffer zone to the harsher elements, your reason. Your rock. We are one: collectively, your apogee. I am, evermore, your soft landing.
Who am I? Hint: I am inanimate.
